Busy Lizzies (Impatiens)
Impatiens are fantastic for summer colour. They are easy to grow and flower profusely from May to October. Busy Lizzies are great for borders and will quickly fill out to create a continuous mass of colour. Planted in full sun or partial shade they will do equally well. Use in mixed hanging baskets or as a single basket to make a ‘hanging basket ball’.


Petunias
Petunias must be one of Britain’s best loved garden annuals. We have both single and double varieties and they will flower from late spring to the first frosts and sometimes beyond.

Marigold
A brilliant summer bedding choice, marigolds look great in any mixed border. An added benefit is that their flowers attract beneficial insects which prey on garden pests such as aphids.


African Marigold
A dramatic large flower head makes this marigold a main feature in your borders. Plant in groups for bold splashes of colour all Summer long.


Geranium
These are a summer favourite with most gardeners especially as they are so easy to grow. They thrive in full or partial shade and like all soil types so you cant go wrong. We have several varieties come and take a look.

Antirrhinum
A cheerful mass of colour these upright plants are a delight to the eye. They need full sun though to thrive so take care where you plant.


Begonias
Begonias are great in both beds and baskets. Choose double begonias for beds as these have the largest blooms.


Cineraria
This is a popular foliage plant having fern like decorative leaves. Used to compliment summer bedding schemes Cineraria will even tolerate mild winters.


Celosia
Often referred to as ‘Prince of Wales Feathers’ at least in Wigan! These bright red and yellow plumes will flower through May and June.


Pansy
Thought that pansy were just for Winter? Think again we have a variety of pansies which will flower all summer long. Feeding is key make sure you use a well balanced fertiliser to guarantee prolific flowers.


Lobelia
Available in both cascading and upright  varieties. The latter are used in bedding while cascading varieties are great in hanging baskets so make sure you get the right ones.


Verbena
Upright and trailing varieties are available the latter look stunning in hanging baskets and pots.


Salvia
Spiky flowers born on an upright plant make a real impression in pots or planted on mass in borders for a carpet of colour.


Alyssum
Planted in the front of your borders Alyssum will compliment your bedding schemes with a wonderful carpet of colour or if you prefer dense white. Small delicate flowers grouped in cauliflower type bunches make this a popular border choice.


Coleus
A definite for foliage lovers Coleus prefers semi shade. Try mixing with Hostas and other foliage plants to give a splash of colour to your planting.
